Golden rule: keep laundry up to date all day, every day.
A full basket at lunchtime is already too late. If you walk past, do something.
Laundry — at standard
- Washing machine: empty, door open, lint-free
- Outside line: used whenever sunny — first preference for drying
- Dryer: default when sun isn't available · empty between loads, door open, lint filter clean
- Foldable kennel rack: packed away unless in use for the odd small load
- Laundry basket: empty or near empty
- Drapes: soaking separately in cold water with Vanish, or washing on their own cycle
- Hung towels: vertical, two pegs at top, no folds, spaced apart
Towels — stocked & in use
- Kennel room shelf: full stack of clean folded towels
- Consult room drawers: topped up — checked, not assumed
- Treatment room: stocked at usual station
- Surgery: stocked, drapes ready
- X-ray area: stocked
- In use on patient: max 1–2 per patient — recovery bed/proper bedding for warmth, not towel piles
- Same-patient reuse: restraint towel becomes recovery towel — don't throw fresh towels at the same animal
Kennel room itself
- Floor: swept, no fur clumps, no water pooling, drains clear
- Bins: not overflowing, lids closed, bin liners in place
- Surfaces: wiped down, no food residue, no hair
- Bedding store: recovery beds and proper bedding accessible & clean
- Cleaning supplies: refilled — disinfectant, paper towel, gloves
- No clean pile on the bench: dry towels are folded and back in rotation
